Salary is based on experience and education: $50,003 - $85,354
The regular teacher contract is currently 184.5 days.

Purpose: Speech-language pathologist will work with the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team to help resolve communication disorders including the mechanical aspects of speech production, phonation, attention/memory, articulation and language processing that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive benefit from the district's educational program.
Responsible to: Director of Special Services and Building Administrator
a. Serve as a resource to staff members and parents in the development of a balanced program for communication.
b. Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.
c. Participate in development of goals and strategies for educational improvement.
d. Provide any assigned paraprofessional with appropriate direction, supervision and evaluation.
e. Ensure that all activities conform to state and district guidelines.
f. Ensure that all activities adhere to the professional standards.
g. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
h. Work effectively with community organizations and outside agencies.
i. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
j. Support the value of an education.
k. Support the mission and philosophy of Derby Public Schools.
l. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.
a. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
b. Occasionally requires the ability to move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
c. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
d. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
e. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
f. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
