POSITION
Elementary School - Based Family Consultant

LOCATION
Heartland Early Education

TERM
Full-time (40 hours/week)
Full-year (261 days annually)


START DATE
ASAP


REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelors Degree in social work, human services, counseling or closely related field is required. Home visiting experience is preferred. Knowledge of Conscious Discipline, community resource availability/access, and family service background is preferred. Bilinguals (Spanish/English) are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES

  • Coordinate the enrollment process by completing required enrollment paperwork and collecting all necessary health and other required documents from families.
  • Conduct home visits with eligible families and children.
  • Provide guidance on child development, positive parenting practices, and family goal setting.
  • Assist families in accessing community resources and services.
  • Foster strong connections between the child's home and school environments.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers to support the child's developmental progress, share relevant family updates, and promote consistent messaging between home and school.
  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with teaching staff to ensure a team approach to supporting each child and family.
  • Promote self-sufficiency through education, advocacy, and support.
  • Coordinate with school personnel and community agencies to meet family needs.


SALARY
Based on years of experience and education.
Classified Salary Schedule - Range 23 (base wage is $21.81/hr)

The district partners with Salina Area Technical College, Hutchinson Community College, Kansas Wesleyan University, and K-State Polytechnic for Salina students to earn college credits and learn skills.
