Elementary Instructional Assistant-Job Description

Reports To

Classroom Teachers/Building Principal

Responsibilities:

• Support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality instruction.
• Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning.
• Assist with classroom management and behavior support.
• Prepare instructional materials and resources as directed by the teacher.
• Monitor student progress and share observations with the teacher.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Assist with technology use, reading interventions, and academic support programs.
• Support students with individualized needs, including accommodations in IEPs, ILPs, and 504 plans.
• Contribute to the implementation of the Science of Reading framework in literacy support.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
• Understanding of evidence-based literacy practices preferred.
