Reporting to the Hätrʼunohtän Zho Manager, the Elementary Education Support Worker ( K-7 ) proactively provides support to Indigenous students from kindergarten to grade 7 and their families to ensure that learning outcomes are successful and to generally facilitate the overall educational, personal, social, emotional and spiritual well-being of indigenous students including those with special needs. This position will maintain a regular schedule at Robert Service School and at the TH Education Department to promote students’ academic success, advocate on behalf of students, maintain regular communication with families, monitor student progress, inform indigenous families about education programs, develop positive relationships with school jëje-in, coordinate programs/service delivery and referrals, collaborate with YFN CELC’s/ESWs and organize other special projects or duties. The position acts as a liaison between RSS teachers, students and parents on educational and personal mattersThis position is also responsible for carrying out daily operational duties, monitoring monthly budgets, work plans, activity reports, and other general administrative duties.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.
