Job Description

The Electropolish Technician uses an electrolytic process to remove metal in an ionic solution by means of a electric potential. This process simultaneously deburrs, smooths, brightens, and removes surface contaminants of the base metal. Electropolishing removes impurities and other embedded contaminants which form during mechanical polishing. The result is a smooth, mirror-like finish which helps prevent contamination.

Requirements

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Comply with all Feldmeier safety and Company policies and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Set up and operate equipment for assigned jobs.
  • Wear proper PPE.
  • Understand metal finishing and electropolishing process.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and work orders for specific requirements.
  • Ability to work in confined space to perform tasks.
  • Set-up of electropolishing equipment including cleaning of equipment, assembling fixtures, and connection of electrical cables
  • Follow existing protocols for electropolishing of specific parts.
  • Visually inspects parts to ensure final finish meets requirements (ie: applicable Codes and standards, customer specifications, and Feldmeier Equipment SOPs) prior to final inspection performed by Quality Control
  • Communicate concerns to management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to perform touch-ups using mechanical polishing with power tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work with Electropolish
  • Previous work with passivation
  • Previous work in plating, metal cleaning
  • Previous work with rigging and overhead cranes

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and maneuvering up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and platforms for elevated work.
  • Walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, stooping, lie down inside or under vessel and twisting while performing required job tasks.
  • Comfortable working with Chemicals.
  • Being mindful of chemical safety and use proper PPE when required.
  • Willingness to work in confined spaces.
