Job Description

The Electronics Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of electronic assemblies across the full production process, including of surface-mount technology (SMT), electrical testing, and final test operations. This role develops, implements, and maintains quality control systems, conducting audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues. The engineer works closely with SMT production, electrical test technicians, and final test teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives, establish inspection criteria, identify issues, analyze data, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing all inspection points in the manufacturing process and determining inspection for supplied parts. Creates product's first article package with all assemblies and components.
  • Works with Germany’s team in reviewing the overall manufacturing process and technical data package. Able to assist in failure and problem investigations and implement corrective action. Provide feedback for process and design changes.
  • Analyze quality performance and collaborate with the program team to develop improvement plans for the identified problem areas.
  • Expertise in MRB, RCCA, and troubleshooting, along with experience in both analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause corrective analysis (RCCA)
  • Interpret Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and resolve issues related to failures
  • Author MRB and Engineering Change documentation and support associated processes
  • Resolve quality issues from a technical & engineering perspective
  • Training VEGA team members to IPC-A-610.
  • Work with Sales, Field Service, and representatives to understand, define, and communicate customer expectations, including customer satisfaction measures.
  • Monitor and help control scrap; including pare to and corrective action analysis. Where appropriate, provide for the disposition of non-conforming material in a timely, economical manner and assure that proper preventive action is taken.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain process documentation to support quality improvement.
  • Measure and analyze key quality performance data; make recommendations on specific opportunities to improve quality.
  • Maintain relationships with the Engineering Department regarding quality standards, inspection and test methods, supplier needs, drawing and specification clarity and completeness.
  • Assist in accomplishing in-process, final, and vendor inspection tasks as required.
  • Where appropriate, in cooperation with Purchasing, communicate to suppliers to identify and correct quality problems. Support vendor quality objectives. Maintain appropriate supplier and component history and records.
  • Facilitate resolution and communication of customer problems identified through LifeLines (Corrective Action system).

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4 year College or University
  • AND two years of related experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 quality requirements.
  • Familiarity with cleanliness requirements.
  • Certified IPC Trainer(CIT) in IPC 610 would be a plus.
  • Prior manufacturing engineering experience with technical leadership in high-reliability SMT.
  • Thorough knowledge of validation principles, manufacturing processes, quality systems, and engineering design fundamentals.
  • Technical knowledge of reading blueprints, schematics, electrical/engineering drawings, and electrical and automation programming aptitude.
  • Experience with J Standards for electronic manufacturing
  • Experience with drawing interpretation and GD&T
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Willing to travel to Europe for training.
