Job Description

We are seeking an Electronic/Electrical Hardware Engineer who thrives on making a strong personal contribution and who is motivated to help make the organisation a little better every day. You want to deliver – for our customers, for the business and for yourself.

We have an opportunity to join our Civil Product Support Engineering Team, in this role you will act as the point of contact for all customer related technical issues, supporting Programs, the Product Line Support Team, Production support and field service teams, you will provide technical expertise and support on Civil Power products, to both external and internal customers. You will support continued production maintaining the design of the product. You will lead all in service product failure investigation’s, liaising closely with the customers, ensuring the correct process and tools are used to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Using reliability data/Production FRACAS and warranty data you will review product performance and resolve any performance concerns, managing system level concerns with the project and Engineering teams.
supporting the delivery and repair of Power products to a range of customers in the Civil sector.

The role

Having experience working with complex electronics to component level, you will support post design activities on our Civil Power portfolio and in the future have access/opportunities to support any product within the Cheltenham post design and in service environment. You will resolve technical/engineering issues to ensure output and product performance targets are achieved in the MRO and in service.

You will be joining a team of experienced Product Support Engineers. You will need to be a good team player who is capable of operating in a multi discipline environment, but equally capable of working on your own with an analytical approach and keen attention to detail. You will have strong organisational and communication skills, be energetic and self-motivated, with an ability to self-manage tasks and priorities.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities)

  • Reliability trend analysis and corrective action planning
  • FRACAS
  • Responsible for driving the overall planning, management and completion of all customer technical queries assigned.
  • Lead for customer technical issues and Investigation of field/production failures
  • Creation of product briefings/Service Information Letters
  • Technical presentations at fleet technical review meetings
  • Act as the lead on all technical issues and overseeing Field Service Engineers activities as appropriate.
  • Provide liaison and support on technical issues to the various GE departments and sites in the UK and overseas.
  • Support the activities of the Safety Product Management Team
  • Maintain and develop a detailed knowledge of the product.
  • Maintain a relationship with customer facing teams, product leads and program teams.
  • Ensure traceability of customer queries using a tracking database to ensure customer actions are assigned clear ownership to ensure their timely conclusion.
  • Support the customer in the field, in the UK and overseas, through modification programmes and dedicated technical support visits.
  • Monitor the performance of GE Product, to identify problem areas and make recommendations and take actions to affect a solution.
  • Maintenance and approval of design and fielded technical documents

Qualifications/Requirements:

Qualified to degree level in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent engineering experience, you must have a proven track record of engineering technical management of Aerospace products, electronic design as well as an understanding of aircraft systems. Demonstrated ability to excel in all customer service areas
