Job Description

Leidos is seeking a Electronics Engineer to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Headquarters in Washington D.C. This is a virtual position and the candidate may live anywhere within the United States. Telework is 100% with business travel estimated to be 25% - 35% of the time.

Primary Responsibilities

Duties may include, but not limited to:

  • The research, development, and implementation of either satellite-based navigation, ground-based NavAids or visual/lighting systems. These navigation systems are required for establishing and maintaining safe, efficient and cost-effective operations in the National Airspace System.
  • Conducts complex independent and inter-dependent engineering studies (i.e., feasibility, life-cycle costing, efficiency, risk analysis, cost benefit, and other engineering economic studies.) and brief upper management/stake holders on a regular basis.
  • Prepare transition plans, testing plans, and training plans, and coordinate the implementation of transition plan elements with all affected stakeholders.
  • Provide engineering system design packages for installation including communications equipment, radar automation equipment, control and monitoring equipment, and weather communication equipment.
  • Provides guidance and instructions in the design, development, and delivery of navigation systems. Analyze customer needs to determine the costs, capacity and requirements for creating an electrical system plan.
  • Inspect electronic systems, instruments and equipment to ensure they meet applicable regulations and safety standards.
  • Prepare engineering risk assessments and provide recommendations and proposals of actions or improvements to mitigate potential risks resulting from site, facility, and project/program changes.
  • Recommends design modifications and equipment repair.

Basic Qualifications

  • Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering degree required from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) with at least 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Electronics Engineer.
  • Experience doing complex engineering economic studies.
  • Experience inspecting electronic systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 25-35% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior FAA experience desired.
  • Knowledge/Experience of Airports desired.
  • Knowledge/Experience with FAA Communications Systems desired.
  • The candidate will be taking equipment out of shelters and other structures and will assist in its repairs and put back together mainly telecom type equipment. Candidate should have some design experience.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
