The role:

Twig designs and manufactures personal safety alarm devices - portable and wearable solutions used in sectors such as healthcare, construction, oil and gas, forestry, security, and logistics. They manufacture their devices in Finland, combining durability, reliability, and thoughtful design. RF is at the core of the products: cellular connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, and short-range radios ensure that help arrives even in demanding conditions.

What we are looking for is a hardware specialist with strong PCB design expertise who thrives both at the drafting table and working hands-on with prototypes and measurements. While PCB design is an essential part of the role, your scope will span the entire electronics development lifecycle. In this position, you will have the opportunity to influence product development beyond a strictly defined task list. You will work in a hardware team and collaborate with software and cloud experts as well.

• Electronics design from schematics to PCB layout, as well as prototype building, measurements, and validation
• Component selection, evaluation, and the adoption of new technologies
• Participation in design reviews, system architecture design, and technical trade-off discussions
• Drafting technical hardware specifications and maintaining clear design documentation
• Collaborating with production and test teams to ensure design manufacturability (DFM) and testability (DFT), as well as resolving production and field issues
• Partnering with suppliers and vendors, and solving technical and customer issues alongside the hardware team
• Opportunity to grow into owning overall product certifications, regulatory compliance
• Optimizing performance, power consumption, and costs, while supporting the product lifecycle from definition to end-of-life

You:

We are seeking a proactive hardware specialist who thrives both at the drafting table and working hands-on with prototypes and measurements, while working closely with other team members.

• A relevant degree in engineering or technology
• A solid understanding of RF electronics principles—such as gain, filtering, impedance matching, antennas, and radiation patterns—as RF plays a central role in this position
• Hands-on experience in schematic and PCB layout design
• Experience with electronics design software, such as Altium or PADS/Xpedition
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
• An engineering mindset characterized by curiosity and strong problem-solving skills
• The ability to work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Fluency in English

Nice to haves:

• Mechanical CAD expertise
• Experience with the Xpedition design environment
• Experience in designing low-power devices and minimizing power consumption
• Knowledge of EMC/EMI and ESD design principles
• Experience with product certification processes (e.g., CE/RED, FCC)
• Interest towards embedded software concepts
• Fluency in Finnish

Our ideal candidate would be located either in metropolitan Turku (while the factory site and most of your relevant colleagues are located in Salo). As a second option, we are also willing to hear from people located in metropolitan Helsinki (as the other office is located in Espoo, Otaniemi). Either location, the work includes occasional travel between the two. In general, the work is done in a hybrid model.
