Duration: 4 Months
Date: Sept 8 to Dec 18, 2026
Location: Onsite (Ottawa, Canada)

The team you will be a part of

The IP Routing division leads the industry with the best Network Processor technology (FP5), QoS, parallel processing, Network Function Virtualization, and product quality. Products cover the spectrum from small CPE devices supporting a few low-speed Ethernet links to carrier-class and datacenter-class systems supporting terabits of routing capacity. Our world-leading technology enables us to offer customers 800GE and 1.6T links with unparalleled routing features.

As a student in the hardware group, you will work with the Sustaining Team that manages released products in Nokia's routing portfolio. You will gain practical experience with advanced circuit boards as you test and qualify new sources of electronic components. In addition to a technical lead, you will be assigned a 1-to-1 mentor. This mentor is a resource for you to ask any questions, raise concerns, learn about Nokia/team culture and career paths, or simply have a chat about how you are getting along. This is an on-site position and requires you to be in the office.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Build up router product test beds to qualify electronic components
  • Execute qualification plans, including thermal and environmental conditions
  • Verify and debug circuit designs using oscilloscopes and other test gear
  • Analyze lab results and report findings to hardware engineers
  • Develop custom automation scripts (Perl, Python) to control test equipment
  • Candidate for a Diploma (3yr) in Electronics Engineering Technology, Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, or related field with an accredited school in Canada
  • A solid foundation in hardware electronics concepts
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Have completed at least one co-op work term, a 4-month paid internship, or have equivalent paid work experience
  • A proactive attitude, a willingness to learn quickly, and the ability to grasp technical concepts with ease

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision
