Description

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional
facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of the DOC is to protect the citizens of the
commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the
mandates of the legislative and judicial processes. The DOC also provides opportunities for offenders to acquire
skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Green River Correctional Complex is seeking skilled applicants for the Electrician Technician Supervisor position on site
at the institution. This position will supervise the work of facility electronics tech staff and other
maintenance department staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Supervises technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic component systems,
    electronic recording, monitoring or measuring devices and other electronic equipment and devices.
  • Performs the duties of a technician particularly in the more difficult and technical areas.
  • Supervises the evaluation of electronic equipment performance and final inspection and adjustment of
    installation and special systems.
  • Maintains technical records and reports of maintenance and repairs.
  • Interprets blueprints and technical drawings for technicians.
  • Inspects work of staff.

This position requires a high degree of adaptability and initiative, a candidate must be responsive to rapidly changing
work environment requiring complex decision-making skills in a dynamic work environment. Superior
communication skills are ideal with colleagues, employees, and supervisors.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Five years of technical experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Technical training in electronics or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional technical experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
NONE

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office and/or electronic shop.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
