Job Description

This role maintains, troubleshoots, installs and inspects all Data Communications Support Section (DCSS) electronic systems & equipment including Nurse Call Systems, Cable TV Broadband Systems, Hospital Page & Music System, Local Page Systems, Intercom Systems, Audio-Video Systems, Alarm Systems, 2-Way Radio Communications System, Master Clock System, and more, ensuring everything runs smoothly. It's a problem-solving position that combines electronics and IT knowledge.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, installs and inspects all Data Communications Support Section (DCSS) electronic systems & equipment.

  • Utilizes multiple tools, multi-meters, RF Signal-Strength meter, computers, laptops, and other System Software Programs to access, diagnose, and/or program Data Communications Systems.

  • Maintains documentation of work performance and maintenance of equipment database. Reviews and implement changes/updates in maintenance database. Ensures compliance with NFPA and JCAHO standards for DCSS systems.

  • The job requires strong communication and system troubleshooting skills, advanced skills reflecting knowledge of several specialized technical fields where the work requires experience in multiple fields and related disciplines or functions. Specific technical skills required include Electronic Communication system knowledge, Computer Software & systems support knowledge, and Computerized maintenance systems knowledge, as well as moderate autonomous decision-making skills

  • The job also requires a strong level of interpersonal skills required to gather and exchange technical / factual information, transmit information and/or provide work direction, using courtesy and tact.

  • The job is performed in a generally supervised environment, requiring several administrative and/or technical accountabilities. The job provides guidance, information and work results. Communicating in a Team Environment is required

  • Professional skills required by the job include strong analytical abilities for understanding and interpreting technical & construction documents, blueprints and layouts, one-line documentation and solid organizational & coordination abilities

  • Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment. Adheres to all safety policies, procedures and practices, including the wearing of protective clothing and gear.

  • Assignments are generally received in the form of a work order system but can occur from non-traditional ways – results & communications are expected, due dates and general procedures to be followed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate Degree /Technical school or equivalent

Preferred

  • Trade school certification in electrical/electronic maintenance

  • 2 years of relevant experience in the field

  • Strong Troubleshooting skills

  • Proficiency of Soldering of Electronic System devices

  • Intercom Communications certification

  • Nurse Call System certification

  • Working knowledge of current Windows Operating System

  • Strong Troubleshooting skills
