Job Description

This controls-focused role is responsible for designing, developing, and validating electronic control systems with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity for Cummins products. The role involves translating product and regulatory requirements into functional specifications, developing secure embedded control solutions, and ensuring robust integration of hardware and software systems across various customer applications. The position also contributes to system validation, cybersecurity compliance, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cybersecurity Requirement analysis & requirement decomposition for Core2.
  • Support in Cybersecurity Roadmap , regulation understanding and support on technical requirements for ECM BSW for CSL for Core2 Program.
  • Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements (including cybersecurity standards) into functional and system-level specifications.
  • Support the development and execution of cybersecurity roadmaps aligned with standards such as ISO 21434.
  • ISO21434 WP Creation , PCRA Alignments , PCRA Approvals for all Core2 Program.
  • Design, configure, and tune control systems while ensuring secure integration with hardware and software architectures.
  • Lead or contribute to system validation activities including DVP&R, calibration, simulation, and testing.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure timely problem resolution with proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, systems, validation, and global stakeholders) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Review designs and code of less experienced engineers to ensure quality, robustness, and reusability.
  • Support continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies across the function.
  • Contribute to project planning, stakeholder management, and execution of deliverables within defined timelines.
  • Drive compliance with cybersecurity regulations and ensure secure product development lifecycle practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical or related STEM field) required.
  • Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering preferred.
  • ISO 21434 certification preferred.
  • Additional certifications in cybersecurity or embedded systems are an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in Embedded Software Design & Development (5–8 years).
  • Expertise in cybersecurity concepts, standards, and implementation in embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of hardware-software interfaces and embedded system architecture.
  • Knowledge of Core2 software architecture and controls systems.
  • Experience in model-based development, simulation, and validation tools
  • Familiarity with DVP&R, calibration, and system-level validation processes
  • Understanding of control systems engineering (open/closed loop controls)
  • Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies and failure mode analysis.

Functional Skills

  • Systems requirements engineering and requirement decomposition.

Experience

  • Proven experience in system validation, testing (HIL/SIL/MIL), and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead components or sub-systems and contribute to project delivery.
  • Experience collaborating with global teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience in Cybersecurity feature requirement analysis and development for ECM BSW SW.
  • Preferred experience in ISO21434 WPs Compliance.
