⚙️ Electronic Assembler Lead – SMT

Ready to take the lead on the production floor?

Universal Avionics is looking for an Electronic Assembler Lead – SMT to provide hands-on technical leadership within our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing operations.

This role is for someone who knows SMT manufacturing, enjoys solving problems, and can help keep a team moving. You’ll work alongside our production team while serving as a go-to technical resource, helping coordinate daily priorities, support equipment setup and changeovers, troubleshoot production issues, coach operators, and keep quality and throughput on track.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a technical lead for day-to-day SMT manufacturing operations
• Support SMT machine setup, operation, changeovers, feeder setup, and equipment readiness
• Coordinate daily work assignments, production priorities, and workload across the SMT team
• Monitor line performance, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and help identify production bottlenecks
• Promote workmanship excellence, IPC standards, ESD compliance, and first-pass yield
• Train, coach, and mentor SMT operators while supporting cross-training and employee development
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, Materials, and Maintenance to resolve issues and keep production moving
• Support new product introductions, first-article builds, process validations, and continuous improvement initiatives

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience in a high-reliability electronic assembly, test, or material handling environment
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and technical documentation
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to provide hands-on technical guidance, coaching, and support to others
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Materials, and Maintenance
