About the Role:

The Electromechanical Technician is responsible for installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems used in Pipe Coating Services operations. This role ensures equipment reliability and availability, supports production and site teams, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, and follows quality, HSE and documentation standards.

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electromechanical equipment including motors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, coating application machines, control panels, and instrumentation.
• Diagnose faults using mechanical and electrical test techniques; replace or repair faulty components to restore equipment to service.
• Installation & Commissioning: Assist with installation, commissioning and start-up of new equipment and systems according to manufacturer instructions and company procedures.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical failures using measuring instruments (multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester, oscilloscope where applicable), schematic diagrams and PLC/HMI diagnostics.
• Electrical Systems: Maintain and repair low-voltage electrical systems, distribution panels, circuit breakers, starters, motor control centers (MCC), relays, and wiring. Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant codes and standards.
• Mechanical Systems: Service mechanical elements such as bearings, gearboxes, couplings, belts, seals, hydraulics and pneumatics; perform alignment, lubrication and adjustment tasks.
• PLCs, Controls & Instrumentation: Support troubleshooting and maintenance of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, transducers and instrumentation. Coordinate with control engineers for complex PLC logic or software issues.
• Calibration & Testing: Perform calibration checks and testing of instruments and safety devices; ensure calibrated equipment is used and calibration records are maintained.
• Spares & Tools Management: Maintain basic spare parts and tools inventory, recommend replenishment, and ensure proper storage and labeling of parts.
• Documentation & Reporting: Complete maintenance records, job cards, defect reports and permit-to-work documentation. Report repeated failures and suggest corrective or improvement actions.
• Support Continuous Improvement: Participate in root cause analysis, reliability improvement projects, and preventive maintenance optimization.
• HSE & Housekeeping: Follow HSE procedures for lockout/tagout, confined space (if applicable), electrical safety, PPE usage, and chemical safety. Maintain good housekeeping and 5S in workshops and plant areas.

Tasks

• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks per PM checklists.
• Respond to breakdowns and carry out fault-finding and repairs.
• Replace worn or damaged mechanical/electrical components.
• Test motors, starters and control circuits; perform insulation resistance and continuity checks.
• Adjust alignments, tension belts, and set mechanical clearances.
• Assist with equipment removal, installation and commissioning.
• Calibrate and test sensors, meters and control loops as required.
• Keep accurate maintenance logs and update CMMS/WMS or spreadsheets with job
• details.
• Ensure permits and isolation procedures are observed before work.
• Train and mentor junior technicians in safe working practices and basic maintenance tasks.

Qualification Requirements

• Diploma or technical certificate in Electromechanical, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
• Minimum 2–4 years' experience in electromechanical maintenance, preferably within pipe coating, industrial services, oil & gas, or manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, and MCCs.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and common electrical test instruments (multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester).
• Basic understanding of PLC operation, ladder logic and HMI interfaces; ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings/schematics.
• Ability to perform mechanical alignment, bearing replacement, coupling installs and basic welding/metalwork (if required).
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Good spoken and written English.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Certification in electrical safety, lockout/tagout, or relevant trade licenses.
• Training or experience with specific PLC brands used on site (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Experience in preventive/predictive maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
• Welding or fabrication skills are an advantage.
• Valid driver's license.
