The Electromechanical Automatic Opening Installer plays a critical role in our Division 8 and Division 28 operations, installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining automatic door systems, electrified door hardware, access-controlled openings, and related electromechanical components. This position supports new construction, retrofit, renovation, and service projects across commercial, healthcare, education, government, hospitality, industrial, and multifamily facilities.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and experienced working with doors, frames, hardware, automatic operators, low-voltage systems, and building access control integrations. This role requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to delivering high-quality installations and customer service.

Essential Functions

• Interpret and follow architectural drawings, door schedules, shop drawings, wiring diagrams, and project specifications to ensure accurate installations.
• Install, adjust, and service automatic door operators, low-energy operators, power-assist operators, sliding door systems, revolving doors, and ADA-compliant opening systems.
• Install and troubleshoot electrified door hardware including electric strikes, magnetic locks, electric latch retraction devices, power transfers, door position switches, request-to-exit devices, and related components.
• Install and terminate low-voltage wiring associated with automatic opening systems, electrified hardware, and access control integrations.
• Coordinate with Division 8, Division 28, and general construction trades to ensure proper installation and operation of door opening systems.
• Perform startup, testing, commissioning, and operational verification of automatic door systems and connected hardware.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational issues and perform repairs, adjustments, or component replacements as necessary.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and service inspections on automatic doors and electromechanical hardware systems.
• Ensure all installations comply with ADA requirements, ANSI standards, building codes, manufacturer specifications, and project requirements.
• Communicate professionally with customers, facility representatives, project managers, and other trades regarding project status and system operation.
• Accurately document work performed, materials used, service findings, and project progress.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and organized manner.
• Follow all company safety practices and jobsite safety requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1 years of experience installing, servicing, or maintaining automatic door systems, commercial doors and hardware, access control systems, or related electromechanical equipment
• Experience working with commercial doors, frames, hardware, and automatic operators preferred.
• Basic understanding of low-voltage electrical systems and wiring practices.
• Ability to use electrical testing equipment, meters, and troubleshooting tools.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, wiring diagrams, and shop drawings.
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and installation equipment.
• Ability to perform precise adjustments and alignments on automatic door systems and hardware.
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Ability to safely work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms.
• Ability to lift and move materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or travel when required by project schedules.
• Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Physical Demands

Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 50-80 pounds.

Work Environment

May require driving to project sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
