We have an exciting opportunity for a Electro/Mech Tech III to join the team!

This is a CBA position.

The Electro/Mech Tech III will:

• Performs various duties in the design, assembly, installation, testing, calibration, operation, evaluation, modification, and repair of devices used in the conversion of electrical signals to mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic outputs and the sensors which convert mechanical, thermal and pressure measurements to electrical signals where primary methods, procedures, and standards have been determined. Design, assemble, install, test, calibrate, operate, evaluate, modify, and repair devices used in the conversion of electrical signals to and from mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems. Requires knowledge of laboratory techniques, methods, and equipment.

• Perform maintenance and operation of electrical, hydraulic, thermal, pneumatic, and other types of mechanical equipment in assigned laboratories or work areas, including researching, documenting, acquiring parts, repairing, and calibration electro-mechanical devices and systems.

• Determines and develops methods, procedures, and laboratory equipment required to fulfill assignments and achieve prescribed objectives. Performs all maintenance and operation functions associated with the electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other types of mechanical equipment in assigned laboratory or work area.

• Performs troubleshooting and investigative services for malfunctioning or failed pneumatic, hydraulic, pressure, thermal or other electro—mechanical measuring devices, servo systems or equipment employing energy conversion; repair and calibrates such equipment through personal knowledge and skills used in conjunction with applicable equipment manuals and checkout procedures.

• Installs, checks out and operates equipment in assigned laboratory or work area and provides preventative maintenance including routine and special purging and cleaning when a system, equipment or device requires it.

• Operate and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of equipment and systems.

• Perform periodic readings and monitoring of various facility systems from variety of sources; gauges, sensors, handheld devices, telemetry data to distributive control systems, etc. and record data in written and/or electronic format in hand-held portable and/or desktop computer systems.

• Works under the general guidance of supervision and may receive job assignments and interface with technical personnel.

• May be assisted by lower-level technicians who have frequent contact with professional and others within the work area.

• Assemble, operate, and disassemble test equipment and properly dispose of components as defined by procedures.

• Adheres to written or standardized operating procedures, policies, and protocols for use of lab equipment and to conduct all other operations, maintenance, calibration, and safety related activities as defined for specific work area.

• Provides technical direction to other technicians.

• Develop, design, fabricate, modify, repair, and assemble unique prototype components using machining tools (e.g., lathes, mills, drill press, etc.).

• Perform assigned task in a safe manner and maintain a clean working environment by complying with all safety procedures and company policies.

• Operate standard equipment and/or instruments including hand-held power tools, meters, and oscilloscopes.

• Work in a team environment.

Required Skills:

• Able to read and interpret basic technical drawings and schematics of complex laboratory and facility systems.

• Basic knowledge of the process of assembling and installing mechanical and electrical components.

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.

• High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years of experience in related field.

• Requires proficient knowledge of laboratory techniques, methods and equipment; applies advanced technical knowledge.

• Able to operate and handle basic hand-held and/or power tools.

• Must be a non-smoker to meet Class 10 Cleanroom requirements (Science Department only)

• Able to comprehend basic technical terminology and communicate effectively with other employees and team members.

• Able to visualize and solve practical problems.

Requisition Preferences:

• ​Knowledge of cryogenics and high-pressure systems.
• Work experience with metals, composites, and materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, and Teflon.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
• Familiar with cleanroom protocols and contamination control.
• Experience with machining tools (e.g., lathe, mill, band saw, etc.).
• Knowledge and/or familiarity with Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) and reverse osmosis systems.
• Two-year technical degree
• Knowledge of Electromechanical and Hydraulic load frames.
• Knowledge of Vibration test systems.

Work Environment
