We are looking for a talented Electrochemistry Scientist to join our team in Engineering for Cummins Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom.
Hybrid (min 3 days on site), 37.5h per week
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Leads assigned electrochemistry projects with accountability for project scope, resources, timing, technical execution, and delivery, ensuring requirements are translated into effective testing activities.
Develops detailed test plans, procedures, and methodologies for the electrochemical characterization, verification, and parameterization of lithium-ion cell technologies in support of customer and research projects.
Coordinates and oversees the setup, execution, and monitoring of battery testing activities, working closely with electrochemistry engineers, technicians, and other technical resources to ensure high-quality and reliable results.
Applies advanced knowledge of battery electrochemistry, electrochemical properties, and materials chemistry to analyze lithium-ion cell performance, investigate technical challenges, and support current and future product applications.
Analyzes and interprets experimental data, conducts failure and root-cause analysis where required, and produces clear technical reports, conclusions, and recommendations based on test results.
Presents technical findings and test results to internal and external customers, participates in technical and project review meetings, and provides specialist guidance to support informed engineering and customer decisions.
Collaborates with mechanical, thermal, and other cross-functional engineering teams to conduct in-house research, testing, and analysis supporting the development, verification, and implementation of battery technologies.
Drives continuous improvement of electrochemistry testing methods, processes, and systems while providing technical direction, coordinating the work of technicians and junior team members, and supporting knowledge transfer across the engineering team.
