Job Description

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in company buildings and facilities. This position ensures all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards while supporting reliable and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical control systems, wiring, and lighting systems
  • Install conduits, piping, and electrical infrastructure in buildings and facilities in compliance with electrical codes
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints
  • Perform routine and corrective electrical maintenance
  • Inspect transformers, circuit breakers, panels, and other electrical components
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Repair or replace faulty wiring, fixtures, and electrical equipment
  • Perform corrective and preventive circuit breaker maintenance
  • Ensure all electrical installations meet safety, legal, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
  • Adhere strictly to safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company policies
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Report major electrical issues and safety concerns promptly to management
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Electrician degree or diploma from a recognized technical college
  • Minimum of three to five (3–5) years of experience working as a professional electrician
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical theory, systems, materials, and equipment
  • Proficient in the use of hand-powered and electrical tools
  • Experience with power generation systems, electrical maintenance, and repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of heating, air conditioning systems, and electrical testing equipment is an asset
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of responsibility with strong attention to safety procedures and legal regulations

Language Requirements

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and courteously with employees and guests
  • Ability to read and write English to understand electrical procedures, manuals, and written instructions
  • Ability to give and receive instructions verbally and in writing and respond effectively to questions from managers and co-workers

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, and use hands to handle tools and electrical components
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in routine and emergency situations
  • Must be physically capable of participating in emergency response and lifesaving drills, including full use and range of motion of arms and legs and adequate visual, verbal, and hearing abilities.
