ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Lead Electrician for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located at Eareckson Air Station in Shemya, AK.
This is a rotational position where the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Eareckson Air Station and 1 month off, unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided as a dormitory facility. All meals are served through the cafeteria.
Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft.

The Lead Electrician of this position will oversee the operations of the electrical section and performs general maintenance and repair of facility electrical systems and equipment requiring practical skill and knowledge at a Journeyman level. They install, maintain, and repair equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
• Performs a variety of electrical trade functions, such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electrical energy.
• Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, pedestals, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, and lighting systems.
• Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical systems or equipment.
• Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
• Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Takes cathodic protection readings, and up channels for proper analysis.
• Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.
• Responds to call-outs after normal working hours, as needed.
• Assists other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations, as directed.
• Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing pertaining to particular trades or skills.
• Ensures proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops.
• Performs related work as assigned and augmented to the Power Plant/Electrical facility.

Lead Duties:
• Keeps supervisor apprised of mission status
• Directs and coordinates activities of the section
• Assist craft personnel in assigned tasks
• Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed
• Inspects and observes work to ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations’ and practices
• Completes mission status reports as required
• Ensures work is scheduled and accomplished within established timelines
• Ensures subordinates time records reflect accurate hours worked on appropriate job activities
• Coordinates personnel TOS requests while maintaining mission requirements

Accountable For:
• Common safety practices and protective equipment used on a construction site.
• Procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical circuits, both overhead and underground.
• Solid-state and conventional control circuitry,
• The use of hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.
• Understanding and following directions.
• Reading and working from blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Working on or from elevated platforms.
• Climbing an extension ladder.

Work Conditions:
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information, and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Electrical Journeyman’s certification with two (2) years’ experience as a Journeyman electrician.
• Current Alaska Certificate of Fitness Card at a Journeyman Electrician Level, or the ability to obtain an Alaska Certificate of Fitness prior to hire.
• Working knowledge of solid-state and conventional control circuitry.
• Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Obtain an interim security clearance and obtain a secret clearance
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
Preferred
• Experience working in a remote location.
• Confined space training.
• Working knowledge (less than Journeyman) in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and
painting.
• NICET Level II certification (or higher)
