The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.

The Opportunity:

Under general guidance and direction of Maintenance Supervisor, performs journey-level skilled installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various electrical systems, controls, and equipment located in Utah County facilities and grounds.

Grade:

Electrician II – 723

Electrician I - 721

Starting Pay:

723 - $29.24 - $33.60

721 - $25.45 - $29.24

Hours:

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Monday - Friday

Job Qualifications- Electrician II:

  1. Associate degree or a certificate of completion of an apprenticeship program in an electrical field.
  2. Three (3) years journey-level work experience installing and maintaining electrical systems.
  3. Effective September 9, 2024: Applicants or employees promoted to this classification on or after this date must be able to qualify to test and pass the Utah Journeyman License exam within the first six (6) months of employment.
  4. Possession of a Journeyman Electrical License issued by the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) will be considered equivalent to the combined education and experience requirement.

Job Qualifications- Electrician I:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years of work experience in the electrical trade or currently enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship program or an associate degree in a related field.
  3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Preference may be given to applicants with experience working with building access control systems.
  2. Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with fire alarm systems.
  3. Preference may be given to applicants with commercial laundry and or commercial kitchen maintenance experience.
