  • Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventive maintenance of electrical fire alarms, CCTV, electronic security, PA, intercom and high voltage distribution systems, emergency generators and equipment.
  • Plans electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.
  • Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and makes take-offs.
  • Requisitions materials and parts needed.
  • Ensures completion of installation/repairs.
  • Makes emergency repairs to electrical system and equipment.
  • Performs on-the-job training of inmates.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Examples of duties

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.


SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems.
  • Must be able to supervise, direct, instruct, and work with other people.
