Job Description
FS Builder Resources is seeking a dependable, hands-on Service Technician to support our growing lighting business. The primary responsibility of this position is installing ceiling fans in new construction.
Previous ceiling fan or lighting installation experience is helpful but not required We are willing to train candidates who are comfortable using basic tools, enjoy hands-on work, follow instructions carefully, and are motivated to learn on the job.
This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, solving practical problems, interacting with customers, and developing new installation and field-service skills. The Service Technician will work with homeowners, builders, supervisors, subcontractors, and internal team members to ensure assigned installations and service requests are completed safely, professionally, and on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install ceiling fans in new construction and residential homes.
- Learn and follow the company’s installation procedures, builder requirements, and safety practices.
- Assemble, adjust, replace, and troubleshoot ceiling fans and related components.
- Review written, electronic, or verbal work orders and complete assigned installations accurately.
- Identify installation or service concerns and notify a supervisor when additional support or work by a licensed electrician is needed.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, supervisors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
- Verify that assigned work is completed correctly, safely, and within required timelines.
- Follow up with supervisors or internal teams regarding incomplete work, product issues, or installation concerns.
- Document completed work using a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or company service application.
- Upload photos, notes, and other required information related to completed installations.
- Maintain tools, materials, supplies, and company equipment in an organized and professional manner.
- Maintain a clean and professional work area while working in occupied homes and new construction environments.
- Conduct all business professionally and ethically in a manner that supports customer satisfaction and company goodwill.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Willingness and ability to learn ceiling fan installation through hands-on training.
- Comfortable using basic hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, installation guidelines, and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in completing quality work.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to complete assigned work within established timelines.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, supervisors, subcontractors, and team members.
- Ability to work independently after completing training.
- Ability to recognize when an installation concern should be escalated to a supervisor or licensed electrician.
- Ability to remain organized while traveling between multiple job sites.
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, mobile applications, email, and other basic technology.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation capable of carrying tools, materials, and supplies.
- Ability to travel between assigned communities and job sites during daytime and, when required, evening hours.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous construction, installation, maintenance, repair, warehouse, assembly, or other hands-on work experience is helpful but not required.
- Previous ceiling fan, lighting fixture, electrical, residential construction, warranty, or field-service experience is a plus.
- Previous customer service experience is helpful.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and ladders is preferred.
- Candidates with limited experience who demonstrate reliability, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and use hands and arms throughout the workday.
- Must be comfortable working on ladders and using tools to install ceiling fans.
- Ability to work with arms extended or raised while completing overhead installations.
- May be required to work in occupied homes, new construction environments, active job sites, and varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to operate hand tools, power tools, mobile devices, and standard office equipment.
- Must be able to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds in person, over the phone, and at job sites.
- Must be able to travel to and from assigned communities and work locations.

Posting Pay Range
20-23
