Ames Construction isseekinga highly skilled and experienced Electrician to support our crushing operations. This role is critical to ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of crushing plants across multiple project sites. The ideal candidate will bring strongexpertisein industrial electrical systems, including PLC programming, troubleshooting, and motor controls, along with a willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

This position is based out of our Salt Lake City, Utah office, with significant field deployment to active job sites.

Essential Functions

  • Install,maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems associated with crushing and aggregate processing equipment
  • Program, diagnose, andmodifyPLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on motor control systems, including VFDs,
  • soft starters, MCCs, and related components
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support field operations
  • Ensure crushing plants and associated equipmentoperatewith minimal downtime
  • Support commissioning, startup, and optimization of crushing and screening equipment
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve system reliability and performance
  • Maintain compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and OSHA regulations
  • Document electrical work, repairs, and system modifications accurately
  • Travel to job sites nationwide (50–75%) to support projects as needed

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of industrial electrical experience, preferably within aggregate, mining, or crushing operations
  • Demonstrated experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system integration
  • Strong knowledge of motor controls, including VFDs, starters, relays, and control circuits
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Experience working in field environments and on large-scale equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in remote job site conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification
  • Experience with crushing, screening, or aggregate production equipment
  • Familiarity with automation systems and industrial communication network (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls (sensors, transmitters, etc.)

Working Conditions

  • Location – This position will work out of ourWestern Office
  • Travel: 50-75%nation widetravelrequired
  • Work is performed in both office and outdoor job site environments
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and heavy equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, andlift upto 50lbsasrequired
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and around moving machinery
