Job Description

Bemana is searching for a skilled Industrial Electrician in Burns Harbor, IN to join the maintenance team supporting a premier steel manufacturing facility. In this role, you will serve as a key technical specialist responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical systems across a variety of industrial machinery and heavy equipment—including grinders, shredders, and electrically driven hydraulic pump systems. You will work alongside an experienced electrical lead within a supportive environment to keep critical mill processing equipment operating safely and at peak efficiency.

Compensation/Benefits:

• Hourly rate up to $32.50/hour depending on experience. If your target pay is higher, we still encourage you to apply—we could request adjustments based on experience and market conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical issues on heavy equipment, industrial machinery, control systems, and electrically driven hydraulic pumps.
• Read, interpret, and work directly from complex wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical blueprints for installation and diagnostic work.
• Maintain, test, and replace electrical components including variable frequency drives (VFDs), relays, control panels, wiring harness systems, circuit breakers, and motors.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and scheduled electrical inspections to prevent equipment breakdowns and maximize operational uptime.
• Use electrical testing devices (multimeters, megohmeters, diagnostic scanners) to safely evaluate malfunctioning circuits and components.
• Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash safety standards, and local/state/OSHA electrical codes.
• Document maintenance activities, completed work orders, and safety inspections accurately.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, control wiring, relays, VFDs, and reading wiring diagrams/schematics.
• Practical experience troubleshooting electrical systems on heavy industrial machinery or mobile processing equipment (e.g., grinders, shredders, material handlers, or electrically driven hydraulic systems).
• Journeyman Electrician card, Associate degree in Electrical Technology, or equivalent combination of practical industrial electrical experience.
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to work independently in a shop environment.
• Commitment to strict electrical safety procedures and working in an active industrial facility.
