Job Description

Job Title: Electrician

Type: Permanent

Location: Southampton

Salary: up to £43,000 per annum depending on experience + van

Hours: 40 hours

BRC are working closely with a leading housing provider to recruit an experienced Electrician.

This role involves carrying out safe and high-quality electrical repairs, installations, servicing, inspection and testing across housing stock, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard while providing excellent customer service.

Duties:

  • Carry out electrical works, repairs and installations within agreed priorities and to a high standard.
  • Identify and repair electrical faults and undertake domestic rewires.
  • Carry out works in both occupied and non-occupied properties, including kitchens, bathrooms and full property rewires.
  • Complete inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installations.
  • Work in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation, policies, procedures and BS7671.
  • Read drawings and specifications, identify project requirements and requisition appropriate materials.
  • Liaise with customers and colleagues, keeping relevant parties informed of work progress and action taken.
  • Provide electrical expertise to planned works teams where required.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota, with additional pay for standby and call-outs.
  • Maintain the company vehicle and complete regular vehicle safety checks.
  • Support the development of apprentices and trainees where required.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Electrician with relevant practical experience.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications, including City & Guilds 2391 and appropriate electrical installation qualifications, or an approved equivalent/NVQ Level 3.
  • Previous apprenticeship or equivalent practical training in electrical installation.
  • Strong practical knowledge of the current edition of BS7671.
  • Experience in inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installations.
  • City & Guilds 2394 or 2395, or equivalent, would be desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between customers' properties.
  • Good IT skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety and working in line with company values and behaviours.
  • Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Basic DBS check.
