Under the general supervision of the Maintenance and Electrical Supervisors, the Electrician performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installation, inspection, and troubleshooting of instruments and electrical equipment, in accordance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ISA and Company Standards.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of field instrumentation devices for process equipment.
  • Identify, interpret and effectively use drawings and documentation related to electrical and process controls including Electrical One-line diagrams, Elementary diagrams, wiring schematics, control schematics, P&ID’s, Cause and Effect diagrams, Instrument Loop diagrams, Interconnect diagrams, etc.
  • Set-up, troubleshoot and repair equipment issues including, electrical/electronic controls, PLC controlled systems using ladder logic, Robotic systems, Industrial Servo controls, and AC/DC motors.
  • Follow safety procedures when performing or assisting work on AC distribution systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair motor control circuits and equipment.
  • Support Plant Operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability.
  • Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems, including electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Bend and install electrical conduit; pull wire and cable; terminate power, control, and instrumentation wire and cable.
  • May perform some specifically assigned routine jobs, such as greasing, oiling, cleaning, inspection of equipment, buildings, and attachments under little or no immediate supervision or guidance.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Capable of frequent heavy lifting
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Proficient in operating mobile equipment
  • Familiar with high-speed packaging/conveying/palletizing environment
  • Must be able to work safely and wear all personal protective equipment and work various shifts and weekends as assigned
  • This is a 24/7 union environment where days, hours and shift assigned is determined by seniority

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal working schedule – flexible hours, weekend and overtime will likely be required
  • Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time
  • May perform sustained manual activities at moderate levels of exertion including lifting and moving loads of up to fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders / stairs and working on elevated platforms
  • Works and travels throughout surface plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity
  • Must be capable of wearing all required PPE and must be physically able to access all plant work areas
  • Uses full range of motion
  • Works in manufacturing plant environment
