Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of an Electrician, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £18.35 - £25.28 per hour

The Electrician will provide operational housing maintenance services across the Council's housing stock and corporate properties. Reporting to the Repairs Officer (Electrical), you will undertake a range of electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair works while ensuring compliance with current regulations, health and safety standards, and Council policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical maintenance and repair works in accordance with work order specifications.
  • Complete electrical installations, inspections, testing, and remedial works on housing and corporate properties.
  • Undertake responsive, emergency, planned, routine, and void property maintenance.
  • Complete certification, reports, material orders, and follow-on work requests using mobile devices.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with current RAMS, SSOW, and electrical regulations.
  • Comply with Health & Safety policies, asbestos procedures, and safe working practices.

Qualification:

  • City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent).
  • City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Test & Inspection (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to undertake CAT B Asbestos Training.

Essentials

  • Practical experience in electrical inspection, testing, installation, and maintenance.
  • Experience within housing maintenance or the social housing sector is desirable.
  • Good understanding of current electrical regulations and safe working practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
