Job Description

This is a permanent full-time opportunity working within one of South Australia's largest and most technically advanced healthcare facilities. You'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising critical electrical systems and infrastructure that support patient care and hospital operations 24 hours a day.

Working alongside a highly skilled maintenance team, you'll gain exposure to complex electrical distribution systems, backup power generation, UPS systems, lighting and control systems, and specialised healthcare infrastructure. What You'll Do

  • Repairs and maintenance of electrical infrastructure and distribution systems
  • Diagnosing electrical faults and system failures
  • Performing scheduled servicing, testing and preventative maintenance
  • Inspecting, testing and maintaining electrical equipment in accordance with manufacturer requirements and compliance standards
  • Managing and scheduling your work effectively
  • Supporting service improvement, quality control and risk mitigation initiatives
  • Working collaboratively with clinical staff, internal technicians and contractors
  • Maintaining accurate service records, reports and documentation
  • Participating in Downer's Zero Harm safety culture and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

What you’ll Bring:

  • Electrical trade qualification
  • Current South Australian Electrical Workers Registration
  • White Card (WHS General Induction)
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's licence
  • First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
  • Solid experience in electrical installation, maintenance and fault-finding
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Safe work practices, including working at heights and with EWP
  • A team mindset with good communication and customer service skills
  • A reliable, organised approach and a commitment to excellence

Working Environment

Royal Adelaide Hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As part of our maintenance team, Electricians participate in a rotational roster that supports critical hospital operations. The roster includes day, afternoon and night shift coverage, with extended periods of standard day shift work between rostered rotation cycles.
