Salary: $45.053, $46.390

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Under the general direction of the Electrical Supervisor or designate, Maintenance Services, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, modifying and replacing any electrical (or associated electronic) equipment or components anywhere within the Health Sciences Centre where said equipment or components is designated the responsibility of Maintenance Services, Electrical Shop.

  • Carries out preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, replacement on all assigned electrical (and associated electronic components) equipment and systems.
  • Performs installations requiring conduit and wiring as required, to complete assigned tasks in accordance with current applicable Electrical Code and HSC technical standards.
  • Carries out installation, repair, replacement, of assigned monitoring, informational, control, alarm and related systems.
  • Ensures that all safety policies and procedures in accordance with all applicable acts, codes, regulations and the WRHA-HSC Site Workplace Safety Program are followed at all times while carrying out his/her work.
  • Interacts with other staff and sections towards maintaining the integrity of all related Health Sciences Centre systems.

NOTE Although operating manuals are available, judgement and experience are highly essential requirements in determining and rectifying defects and faults.

Experience

  • At least five years' experience in all phases of installation, maintenance, modification, inspection and replacement of building electrical services, equipment (fixed and portable) and associated electronic components.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Must be qualified as an Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician ('H' License).
  • Completion of a recognized electronics curriculum preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician ('H' Licence) required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of personal computer applications would be an asset.
  • Must have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of electrical codes and their application in a variety of facilities, buildings, equipment, as well as experience in the installation of conduit and proper wiring methods.
  • A thorough understanding of electronics in relation to the electrical trade is required.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to repair, modify, install, maintain, replace and inspect building electrical services, equipment and associated electronic control systems and components.
  • A knowledge of elementary algebra is required to apply electrical/electronic formulae.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements

  • Position often requires working from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities normally associated with the electrical trade.
