Job Description

Field Electricians are responsible for the practical layout, routing, conduit and wireway installation, wire pulling, power wiring, installation and troubleshooting of PLC control panels, motors, VFDs, hydraulic power and controls, lights, floats, switches, sensors, and misc. equipment for our industrial finishing systems. Field electricians must be fluent in and able to read and interpret electrical schematics and detail drawings, as well as possess accurate marking, measuring and shop math skills. They must have experience working with industrial power and control panels and troubleshooting using multi-meters and other equipment.

Required Skills

  • Read and understand layout and detail drawings for layout and installation
  • Read and do layout with tape measures, levels, square, dividers, rule, plumb bob, string lines, marking tools, etc.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics for wiring, testing, and troubleshooting (1-phase 120V, 3-phase 480V power, low-voltage DC signal and control typical).
  • Ability to correctly use multi-meters and other test equipment.
  • Common metal cutting tools such as the band saw, cut off saw, saws-all, hole saw, handheld drill, abrasive cut-off wheels, etc.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble mechanical fasteners.
  • Installation of conduit, wireway, and wire baskets.
  • Safe use of ladders, powered lifts, and comfortable doing elevated work in a harness.
  • Knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code standards (NEC) for industrial power and control equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of up to 10 hours per day, with frequent kneeling, squatting, crawling or climbing ladders.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching and grasping
  • Frequently lift parts up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have good eyesight with the ability to read drawings, small print, and see workpieces clearly

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Electrical experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program, technical education certificate, or degree preferred
  • State license or certification preferred
  • Ability to travel to customer sites for installation a minimum of 25% of the year.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
