Job Description

Under general supervision from supervisor perform semi-skilled and skilled electrical installations, repair electrical equipment and perform maintenance on electricalsystem

Essential Functions:

  • 50% Install,maintainand repair all electrical systemsTroubleshoot electrical systems by using test equipment and problem-solvingskills Replace faulty electrical components (e.g.relays, switches,transformersand detectors) and replace damaged wires/cables.
  • 5-40%Observefunctioning of installed equipment or systems to detect need for adjustments, relocation,replacementor repair.
  • 5-20% Replace defective breakers, switches,fusesand electrical wiring to repair installed unitsDisassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts and reassemble equipment.
  • 5-20% Install electrical wiring, feeders and sub-boxes following electrical code and blueprints.
  • 0-10% Complete work,timeand material usage reportsPerform otherduties asassigned by superintendent/supervisor.

Additional Position Information:

Education:

Requireshighschool diploma or GED.

Licenses/Certifications:

Valid Ohio Driver’s License.

Experience:

Completion of the 2-year University of Akron or other state approved sponsored apprenticeship program for trade orRequiresa minimum of 5 yearsof electriciantrades experiences.Ability tooperateand use standard powered and nonpowered tools and equipment typically associated with the electrical trade requiredAbility to perform mathematics associated withtrade applications (fractions, ratios, percentages) requiredAbility to read, write and accurately follow oral, written and graphicinstructionsrequired

Leadership:

Responsible for directing andmonitoringthe work ofstudentand/or temporary workers.

Physical Requirements:

Considerable physical exertion required involving bending, stooping, crawling, climbing,liftingor carrying heavy items (over 50 lbs. -- 75 lbs.) and periodically (up to 1/3 of time) working in difficult or awkward positions.

Routine exposure to heat, cold, moisture/wetness, inclement weather,noiseand air pollutionMay involve exposure to chemical

substances,hazardsand moving partsOvertime/Call-ins may be mandatory based onUniversityneed
