Job Description

Summary:
The Electrician supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a central chilled water plant serving mission-critical customer infrastructure. This role is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical power, controls, and instrumentation systems across plant equipment, ensuring continuous uptime and operational excellence.
This position plays a key role in supporting Cordia’s commitment to building and operating resilient energy infrastructure that powers communities and critical environments.

Principal Responsibilities/Key Results Areas:
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems supporting chillers, chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, and cooling towers
• Diagnose electrical and control issues on chillers, including motors, starters, and protective devices
• Maintain and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs) to optimize pump and fan performance
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, and electrical distribution systems
• Support continuous plant operations by ensuring reliable power delivery and system uptime in a 24/7 environment
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) including I/O and communication networks
• Interface with and support BAS/SCADA systems for monitoring, trending, and system adjustments
• Calibrate and maintain field instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, and flow transmitters
• Interpret and work from electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, ladder logic, and P&IDs
• Work safely on low and medium voltage systems (e.g., 480V through 4.16kV or higher, as applicable)
• Troubleshoot motors, breakers, relays, and control circuits
• Perform equipment isolation, switching, and functional testing
• Support electrical upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning activities
• Adhere to and promote compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and site-specific electrical safety programs
• Execute lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and arc flash safety requirements
• Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Partner with operations and maintenance teams to rapidly diagnose and resolve system issues
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve system reliability and energy efficiency
• Accurately document maintenance activities, findings, and corrective actions

Knowledge, Experience, Education, & Skills:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Valid state driver’s license
• Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preferred - Some industrial electrical experience in central plants, district energy systems, large-scale HVAC, or utility environments
• Experience supporting mission-critical or 24/7 operations strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and documentation
• Strong leadership ability; excellent communications skills including written, verbal, and motivational
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, prints, instructions, manufacturer’s data and equipment maintenance history
• Ability to coordinate numerous activities under stress with poise, safely and successfully
• Possess an excellent working knowledge of operations and maintenance for efficient and effective production
• Level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and familiarity with PowerPoint.

Working Conditions:
• Normal plant environment and/or out of doors work environment. Includes working at heights, high ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations
• Requires operation of a motor vehicle; Valid State Driver’s License
• Regular extended and non-standard hours during critical issue resolution and to achieve project milestones
• Occasional travel to Corporate locations and other company plants
• Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, fall protection etc.)
• Requires working around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals
