Job Description

Our client, a leading structural steel company, is seeking an experienced Electrician to join their team in New Ross, Co. Wexford The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems and machinery across the facility, with a strong focus on PLC-based equipment This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong diagnostic skills and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.

To be successful in this role, the preferred candidate will have proven experience in electrical maintenance, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring proper operation.
2. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to optimise equipment performance.
3. Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled machinery and systems.
4. Test and calibrate equipment to ensure functionality and product safety.
5. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using internal software systems.
7. Collaborate with supervisors and production teams to resolve equipment issues.
8. Apply technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
9. Interpret schematics, technical documents, and diagnostic equipment to identify faults.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
2. Strong working knowledge of PLC systems and controls.
3. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
4. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
5. Familiarity with safety procedures and energy control protocols.
6. Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently.
