This role involves the installation, maintenance, and complex troubleshooting of electrical process control instrumentation and heavy industrial power systems.

You will serve as a critical partner in ensuring 'zero-downtime' during peak production seasons. This role requires a high degree of technical expertise in both high-voltage power distribution and low-voltage automation. You will work in a fast-paced industrial environment, collaborating closely with plant operators and engineering teams to fine-tune plant performance, minimizing downtime. You will not only fix what is broken but proactively research and implement automation upgrades to improve plant capacity, consistency, and energy efficiency, all while adhering to NEC and Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel safety standards.

  • Determines the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components, and creates a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem
  • Maintain and calibrate burner control systems and infrared temperature sensors to ensure asphalt mix meets strict quality specifications.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and fine-tune Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and HMI interfaces that manage the flow of liquid asphalt and recycled materials.
  • Regularly calibrate production equipment, including conveyor belt scales, liquid asphalt meters, and load-out silo systems to ensure accurate material measurement.
  • Conduct routine thermal imaging and physical inspections of electrical panels, switchgear, and wiring to detect failing components before they cause a plant stoppage.
  • Replace or repair failing electrical wiring, appliances, fixtures, and heavy machinery components as identified during inspections.
  • Maintain precise records of all work performed, materials used, and equipment test results to satisfy OSHA requirements and internal maintenance logs.
  • Actively research and propose upgrades in plant automation to improve safety and reporting capabilities.
  • Work alongside the corporate engineering group and outside vendors to execute capital improvement projects, such as silo expansions or new plant installations.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for high-voltage utility work or specialized software updates to ensure projects meet deadlines and budget.
  • Embody the Martin Marietta safety culture by ensuring all electrical work is performed under strict Lockout/Tagout/Tryout (LOTOTO) procedures.
