Electrician

Qualifications
Minimum
  • Grade 12 Certificate (NQF 4)
  • Trade Test: Electrician or Millwright (NQF 5)

Experience
Minimum
  • Up to 3 years of technical and electrical maintenance experience as an Electrician in a manufacturing environment
Technical Competencies
  • Computer literacy (Basic MS Office, SAP, ERP systems, and other job-specific software)
  • Knowledge of relevant maintenance practices, designs, methodologies, and SOPs
  • Understanding of housekeeping and safety principles
Key Performance Areas and Indicators
Repairs
  • Diagnoses root cause of equipment failure and executes a plan to rectify failure through timely repairs.
  • Minimizes equipment downtime and damage by repairing faults as quickly as possible.
  • Ensures optimal equipment operation by applying relevant technical and engineering standards, and obtaining manufacturing process approval.
  • Closes out maintenance job cards on completion of work (Shop Ware).
  • Proactively identifies potential issues and resolves process-related problems in collaboration with Production.
  • Provide relevant reports to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding repairs, production support, downtime, and updates to the paper trail.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Root cause analysis performed.
  • Failures/defects identified and rectified in a timely manner.
  • Equipment downtime and damage minimized.
  • Production support rendered, feedback received.
  • Operating conditions of equipment optimal.
  • Product quality standards maintained.
  • Reports compiled and available on time (document control).
  • Job Card Completion 100%.
Maintenance
  • Performs first off inspection on all process changes to assess the condition of equipment.
  • Conducts routine inspections (predictive and planned) to detect potential equipment failures and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Communicates with Supervisors and Production to schedule maintenance time.
  • Coordinates availability of parts for executing maintenance routines.
  • Reports 'out of the ordinary' conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Inspection checklists completed.
  • Number of equipment failures/defects reported.
  • Equipment failure or damage reported in a timely manner.
  • Reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance performed.
  • Equipment downtime minimized.
  • Reports and feedback provided to Supervisors and Production.
Training
  • Assists in training Apprentices.
  • Prepares training machines for Apprentices to ensure effective corrective equipment training.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Apprentices capable of performing maintenance/repair duties.
  • Equipment prepared for training purposes.
  • Feedback received.
Compliance
  • Operates within controls and procedures to ensure the integrity of the company.
  • Reports risks or concerns to management within area of responsibility.
  • Promotes compliance with regulations to prevent wasteful or irregular expenditure.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Risks reported to Manager.
  • Cost and expenditure monitored, waste minimized.
Cost Control
  • Supports effective and transparent use of financial and other resources.
  • Limits expenditure, reduces costs, and reports budget deviations to direct Manager.

  • Cost and expenditure monitored, waste minimized.
Customer Service
Maintains effective working relationships with employees and customers to deliver high-quality service.
  • Identifies and solves problems with integrity, aligning with company core values.
