About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and safety-focused Electrician to join our Electrical team in a customer high‑risk environment. Reporting to the Electrical Team Leader or Supervisor, this role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis and certification of electrical equipment and systems across domestic, commercial, industrial and high‑voltage settings.

This position requires a high level of technical capability, safety awareness, and professionalism, with the flexibility to support operational and shift requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical

  • Carry out all electrical works in accordance with AS/NZS 3000, the Electricity Act 1992, Electrical Safety Regulations, and relevant standards, codes and legislation
  • Develop and interpret wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams and layout drawings
  • Install and maintain switchboards, control panels, switchgear, cabling, earthing systems and control systems
  • Diagnose faults, identify defects and perform repairs promptly and efficiently
  • Conduct periodic electrical testing of appliances and installations
  • Test, commission and certify electrical systems in a high‑risk environment
  • Complete certification and issue Certificates of Compliance for completed works
  • Maintain site reporting, QA documentation and records
  • Provide guidance to Electrical Trades Assistants
  • Coach and mentor electrical apprentices in line with company and regulatory standards
  • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting client operational needs, including participation in shift rotations when required

Safety

  • Perform all duties with a strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards
  • Ensure safe working conditions for employees, contractors and visitors
  • Participate in daily pre‑start meetings, risk assessments and safety briefings
  • Use appropriate PPE and safety systems including JSA, pre‑work checklists and risk assessments
  • Comply with and contribute to safe work procedures
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses in accordance with company guidelines
  • Actively participate in safety training and initiatives
  • Assist with safety input for reports, tenders and proposals

Other Responsibilities

  • Complete client site inductions as required
  • Continuously review and improve site systems and work practices in line with best practice
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development to enhance skills and performance
  • Maintain a professional attitude, presentation and work ethic at all times
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organised and safe
  • Comply with all UGL systems, processes, policies and expected behaviours

Policy & Procedure Compliance

  • Ensure individual and, when applicable, team compliance with all UGL policies and procedures, including:
    • Code of Conduct
    • HR / People & Culture (including EEO, Bullying & Harassment)
    • Health, Safety & Environment (including Fitness for Work)
    • IT systems access and usage
  • Support commercial obligations, risk management and protection of intellectual property

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role on a construction site
  • A Grade Electrical Licence
  • Construction White Card
  • Current CPR & Low Voltage Rescue certification
  • Full, current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (unrestricted working rights)
  • Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
  • Strong safety record and safety-first mindset
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical drawing and interpretation skills

Desirable

  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • High Risk Work Licence – EWP
