Job Description

of Duties:

The Commercial / Industrial Electrician is responsible for performing electrical installations, service, and troubleshooting in support of commercial mechanical construction and service operations. This full-time position requires a skilled, safety-focused professional with strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in commercial and industrial environments. The Electrician will work independently and alongside other trades to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes and company standards. This role supports HVAC systems, piping systems, building automation systems, and other mechanical-related electrical installations.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical installations for commercial mechanical construction projects, including HVAC equipment, pumps, control panels, and related systems.
  • Install conduit systems including EMT, rigid, PVC, and flexible conduit; bend conduit accurately using hand and mechanical benders.
  • Pull wire, terminate panels, install breakers, and complete system connections according to project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation.
  • Perform service work including troubleshooting electrical systems, identifying faults, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company quality standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, controls technicians, and other trades to maintain project alignment and workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate jobsite documentation including service reports, material usage, and daily progress updates when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Participate in service calls and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Assist in training and mentoring apprentice electricians as directed.

Skills and Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 4+ years of commercial electrical experience.
  • Valid Apprentice Electrician License (Required).
  • Journeyman Electrician License (Preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency in conduit bending, wire pulling, panel terminations, and equipment connections.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
  • Experience working in active commercial and industrial jobsite environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work professionally with team members, clients, and other trades.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as project demands require.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting mechanical systems such as HVAC equipment, pumps, and building automation systems.
  • Previous experience in commercial service electrical work.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • Experience working on occupied commercial facilities.
  • Ability to lead small crews or assist in directing apprentice electricians.
  • Possess required hand tools and basic power tools necessary for commercial electrical work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work for extended periods (8+ hours).
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and on lifts.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and physically demanding jobsite environments.

Company Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a company vehicle if required (must be 21 years of age).
  • Must pass a drug screening test.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct representative of company standards.
