Job Description

We arelooking to recruit a full-time year-round dedicated Journeyperson Electrician to our maintenance team. You will work independently with input from your manager / supervisor, requiring little supervision; reliant on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish daily maintenance and construction goals. During winter and summer operational periods, lift electricians assist with start-up, monitor lift operations, and respond to problems and emergencies. During down periods, they are busy performing required maintenance and special projects. Compensation Information: $40.01 to $42.03 per hour

Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; predominantly in an outdoor setting (in extreme heat and cold).

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Journeyman Electrician Canadian Red Seal Certification
  • Previous passenger ropeway and passenger conveyor experience or similar
  • Selkirk College lift maintenance courses: Lift 151 – Surface Lifts, Lift 152 – Fixed Grip Ski Lifts, and Lift 153 – Detachable Grip Ski Lifts, may be completed after start date
  • Valid driver’s license and abstract submitted yearly
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated, dependable, timely and able to work well with others
  • Ability to operate snowmobiles, A.T.V.s and 4x4 trucks in a safe and responsible manner
  • Strong familiarity with Electrical codes, CSA-Z98 code and the B.C. Safety Standards Act and Elevating devices regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of current Work Safe BC regulations
  • Able to operate Passenger ropeways in a safe and responsible manner with training
  • Strong desire to develop a career in the ski industry

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To perform all duties assigned by the Electrical supervisor or Department Manager in a timely fashion
  • Maintain a high level of regard for safety at all times
  • Perform electrical maintenance, trouble shooting, and installation duties on a wide variety of equipment in all areas of the resort
  • Maintain and trouble shoot AC and DC drives and motors
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting experience in PLC and Communication distributions is an asset
  • Be aware of and perform duties in accordance with all Provincial and Federal electrical codes and regulations governing this position
  • Extend the highest degree of courtesy and respect in all dealings with SPRLLP management, staff, co-workers, and guests at all times.
  • Supervision and mentoring of apprentices
  • Keep a clean, organized and safe work environment
  • Keep good track of work and ensure records are kept up to date
  • Adhere to all SPRLLP policies as outlined in the current Employee Handbook
  • Keep up to date with changes to applicable company policies, SOG’s, Manufacture recommendations, bulletins, codes and regulations.
  • Assist with scheduling of maintenance, shift assignments, record keeping, and assume direction of electrical staff in the absence of the Electrical supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
