Electrician

Location: Wighton's Plumbing, Heating & Air - San Luis Obispo, CA

Reporting To: General Manager

Compensation: $60,000 - $150,000 / year

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial, industrial and residential electrical work and possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, components, safety procedures/protocols and building codes. This role involves working on construction, commercial, industrial and residential sites reading blueprints and ensuring that all electrical installations and/or repairs comply with the National Electrical Code.

Key Responsibilities

• This position is responsible for repairs, installation of electrical systems
• Repair and install lighting and power distribution systems
• Utilize ammeters and other testing equipment to diagnose electrical issues.
• Perform new construction and renovations
• Perform electrical safety inspections/practices
• Ensure work is done in accordance with the National Electrical Code and in a professional manner
• Perform other duties as may be required by supervisor
• Work with both low voltage and high voltage systems as required
• Collaborate with construction teams on-site to coordinate electrical work with other trades
• Perform routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards or malfunctions
• Provide guidance on frame carpentry as it relates to electrical installations/repairs when necessary
• Install Stand-by Generators
• Wire new and remodel residential projects
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical problems using appropriate testing devices
• Perform general electrical maintenance

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Electrician
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Relevant certifications or licenses as required by local regulations are a plus
• Experience with both low voltage and high voltage systems is preferred
• Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics and blueprints
• Familiarity with power tools and equipment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and safety pro
