What You’ll Do:
This position works under direction and requires thorough knowledge of the electrician trade.
• Act as lead worker (e.g., provides work direction and training) over lower-level electricians and/or crew and/or incarcerated individuals engaged in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment
• Installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls and equipment (e.g., motors, appliances, fans, transformers, heating and cooling equipment, fire and other alarm/security systems, elevators and switches)
• Determines & completes materials needed, cost estimates, & submit requests to purchase
• Reads blueprints &/or schematic diagrams; maintains inventory of electrical supplies
• Maintains tool count of tools used by incarcerated individuals (e.g., completes tool control forms daily, maintains strict inventory of tools)
• Performs other maintenance &/or miscellaneous duties (e.g., performs semi-skilled carpentry, painting, electrical, sheet metal, HVAC)
• Ensures compliance with security regulations
• Installs, troubleshoots, tests, modifies &/or maintains basic telecommunications &/or electronic data processing equipment (e.g., cable television lines; telephone lines; computer/terminal lines; printers; analog /or digital phones) in institutional setting
• Serves on institutional committees
• Attends training, seminars &/or meetings
• Performs security functions as required (e.g., man-down, shakedown, inmate movement)
• Performs other duties as assigned (e.g., snow & ice removal & grass cutting).

18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. verifiable exp. in electrical work under supervision of experienced electrician; formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division & in reading & writing common English vocabulary.
