Electrical/Instrumentation Lead - Lincoln, NE

ADM's Lincoln Soybean Processing Facility is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Lead to provide technical leadership and supervision for the site's instrumentation, electrical, automation, and controls systems. This role serves as the plant's primary subject matter expert for instrumentation, electrical reliability, process controls, and automation technologies while leading the development of E&I technicians and supporting operational excellence initiatives.
The E&I Lead is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant electrical and instrumentation assets while driving continuous improvement, equipment reliability, process optimization, and regulatory compliance. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities and serves as a key partner to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Reliability, Safety, and Performance Excellence teams.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of the instrumentation and electrical team supporting a 24/7 soybean processing operation.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting for instrumentation, electrical systems, PLCs, DCS controls, automation equipment, motor controls, and power distribution systems.
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for instrumentation, electrical reliability, process controls, and automation technologies.
  • Support plant operations during equipment failures, process upsets, and critical maintenance events.

Reliability, Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Develop and maintain reliability strategies for electrical and instrumentation assets.
  • Drive preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Own the development and execution of Inspection and Test Preventive Maintenance (ITPM) programs for critical instrumentation and safety systems.
  • Utilize Maximo CMMS to manage maintenance activities, planning, scheduling, and spare parts inventory.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate instrumentation and electrical projects, shutdown activities, capital improvements, and equipment upgrades.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve reliability, safety, and process performance.
  • Utilize Performance Excellence and problem-solving methodologies to identify opportunities and implement improvements.

Safety, Compliance & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, environmental, food/feed safety, and company standards.
  • Audit contractor work and enforce electrical and instrumentation standards.
  • Support process safety initiatives, electrical safe work practices, lockout/tagout programs, and incident investigations.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop instrumentation and electrical technicians.
  • Support employee training, technical development, SOP creation, and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Day in the Life
A typical day includes reviewing plant performance, reliability metrics, maintenance priorities, and operational issues impacting production. The E&I Lead partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Reliability teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, support projects, develop technicians, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, reliability, and plant performance.

Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial instrumentation, electrical, controls, or automation experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with DCS systems, Allen Bradley PLCs, Modicon controls, and industrial automation systems.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC theory, electrical distribution, motor controls, VFDs, and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience with CMMS systems such as Maximo.
  • Knowledge of hazardous location classifications and intrinsically safe systems preferred.
  • Experience in soybean processing, grain processing, food manufacturing, chemical processing, or other continuous process industries preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required for training.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces, lift up to 55 lbs., and wear required PPE and respiratory protection.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$58,100.00 - $108,000.00
