The Electrical Technician Helper assists electrical technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems for hurricane protection products, such as shutters, windows, and storm panels. This role ensures that electrical components, such as motorized shutters, automated systems, and backup power supplies, are properly installed and functional to provide maximum safety during hurricanes and severe storms.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assist electrical technicians in the installation of electrical wiring and components for storm protection systems.
  • Perform basic electrical tasks such as wiring, drilling, and mounting electrical fixtures.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and local building codes.
  • Carry and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for each job.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for electrical issues related to motorized and automated hurricane protection systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and tools.
  • Follow instructions to install or repair electrical systems in residential or commercial properties.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering basic questions from customers on the installation process.

Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to different job sites as needed.

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
  • Willingness to work overtime or on weekends, especially during hurricane season.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards in all installations and repairs.
  • Previous experience as an electrician helper or in a construction-related field is preferred.
  • Must have a clean valid drivers license.
