Job Description
The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in industrial and commercial environments. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in demanding offshore and field environments.
ESSENTIAL
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Perform routine and preventive electrical maintenance.
- Inspect transformers, circuit breakers, motors, and other electrical components.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment.
- Repair or replace electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures, and components as required.
- Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable state and local regulations.
- Perform corrective maintenance on circuit breakers and electrical distribution systems.
- Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Utilize a variety of electrical testing instruments and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve issues.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete assigned work orders, maintenance records, and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support operational activities as required, including work performed offshore, on vessels, and at customer locations.
REQUIRED
- Proven experience as an Electrical Technician, Electrician, or in a similar role.
- Experience working with industrial and/or commercial electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to use electrical and hand tools, including wire strippers, multimeters, voltmeters, and related equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical safety procedures, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to work extended shifts, including nights and weekends when required.
DESIRED
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Diploma in a relevant vocational program, technical training, or successful completion of an electrical apprenticeship.
- Ability to obtain rigging and forklift certifications.
- Valid Passport, Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician License (where applicable).
