Job Description

The Service unit of GE Grid Solutions is currently seeking an Electrical Substation field specialist. Reporting directly to the Head of Service AC Substation Operations, the incumbent will be responsible, in collaboration with the client and the engineering group, to ensure the commissioning and maintenance of Medium and High Voltage products and provide apparatus’s support. It will also train and support these colleagues in performing this task. It should be available 24/24 for support in case of emergency.

More specifically, it will:

  • Resource planning, equipment and time for commissioning, repair or maintenance expertise.
  • Perform Erection, Testing, Commissioning and maintenance of HV/MV electrical substations apparatus
  • Perform Testing, Commissioning and maintenance of LV AC/DC systems (distribution panels, Batteries, battery charger, Inverter…)
  • Manage and help Worker’s customer and/or switch on the site (LOTO)
  • Prepare progress reports, test results, non-compliance report
  • Annotating and editing drawings 'as built'.
  • Participate in the drafting of technical procedures.
  • Submit to external customers and internal technical documentation necessary for operation and maintenance of equipment. Provide information supplements as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance in the preparation of tender.
  • Participate in the development of inspection criteria in collaboration with customers and engineering team.
  • Responsible for EHS site team compliance
  • Technical assistance to our sales specialist during customer visits

Requirements:

  • • Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a specialization in electrical substations or HV/MV apparatus, or equivalent relevant experience in electrical engineering.
  • Field experience in Electrical Substation for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Have good ability to interact and communicate with clients and workers
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical and electronic testing equipment’s
  • Fluency in English (mandatory) and French will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of design software (AutoCAD), knowledge of office software (MS Office Suite)

The hourly pay range for this position ranges from $38.00-$42.00/hour depending on experience, qualifications, and position level (Tech I or Tech II) The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. the time
