Organizational context and job purpose

The Electrical Reliability Resource Team Leader is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Battleground Manufacturing Complex Electrical Distribution System (EDS). This role has overall accountability for the 138kV, 69kV, 12.47kV, and Cogeneration distribution systems, ensuring reliable power delivery, system integrity, and regulatory compliance.

The position provides technical leadership for electrical reliability, maintenance, and system operations. It serves as the site's subject matter expert for electrical distribution equipment, maintenance strategies, and reliability improvement initiatives.

How the Role Fits in

The Electrical Reliability Resource Team Leader ensures electrical maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards to maintain equipment reliability and integrity. The role provides technical support and troubleshooting expertise for medium- and low-voltage systems, including motor controls, protective relays, UPS systems, grounding systems, and DC power systems.

This position reports to the Instrument, Electrical, and Analyzer (IEA) Reliability Superintendent and leads a team consisting of one Electrical Reliability Engineer, two Electrical Technical Coordinators, and two Electrical Distribution System Testing Specialists. The role also oversees contract resources as required to support reliability and maintenance objectives.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

This position is accountable for understanding, demonstrating, and promoting the INEOS 20 Principles. This role is expected to foster a strong culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement by ensuring these principles are consistently applied across the Electrical Reliability Team and contractor workforce.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Safety, Compliance, and Leadership

  • Champion SHE performance and ensure compliance across all electrical maintenance, testing, and switching activities.
  • Demonstrate and promote the INEOS 20 Principles throughout the Electrical Reliability Team and contractor workforce.
  • Ensure direct reports meet all training, action item closure, PSM, and safety compliance requirements.
  • Participate in and support internal and external audits, including 20 Principles, PSM, Insurance, and Electrical Safety reviews.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, develop, and mentor Electrical Reliability personnel to build technical capability and support succession planning.
  • Provide formal and on-the-job training for EDS Technicians, Electrical Maintenance personnel, Reliability personnel, and Operations.
  • Effectively balance team leadership responsibilities with direct technical contribution when required.
  • Drive employee engagement, performance improvement, and professional development.

Electrical Distribution System Ownership

  • Serve as the site owner for the Electrical Distribution System (EDS), ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation.
  • Develop, review, and approve electrical switching orders.
  • Maintain ownership of the site electrical system model, including arc flash, coordination, short-circuit, and load-flow studies.
  • Ensure PowerDB records and electrical asset documentation remain current and accurate.
  • Develop and maintain EDS procedures, standards, and work practices.
  • Ensure electrical equipment strategies and preventive maintenance programs comply with Mechanical Integrity requirements and are properly maintained in SAP.

Reliability and Technical Excellence

  • Manage electrical reliability programs, including transformer DGA, partial discharge analysis, and substation battery programs.
  • Provide technical expertise to Operations, Maintenance, and Capital Projects, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, testing, failure analysis, and equipment specification.
  • Oversee QA/QC for electrical maintenance and testing activities.
  • Lead investigations of significant electrical equipment failures and develop corrective actions.
  • Support development and implementation of long-term reliability strategies for electrical assets.

Turnarounds, Projects, and Reliability Improvements

  • Ensure effective planning, prioritization, and execution of Electrical Reliability Department activities.
  • Provide electrical reliability support for turnaround planning, budgeting, and execution.
  • Support capital project scoping, design reviews, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Lead maintenance-led capital and expense projects from concept development through commissioning and closeout.
  • Develop scopes of work and support Management of Change (MOC) activities.
  • Coordinate resources to meet operational, maintenance, and project objectives.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of electrical maintenance, reliability, or power distribution experience in a manufacturing, petrochemical, power generation, or related industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems ranging from 480V through 138kV.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing, troubleshooting, protective relaying, and reliability programs.
  • Experience with electrical system studies using SKM and maintenance testing databases such as PowerDB.
  • Familiarity with SAP asset management and maintenance systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical one-line diagrams, control schematics, protection schemes, and applicable industry standards (NETA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, API).
  • Experience supporting turnarounds (TARs), maintenance-led projects, and capital project execution.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop personnel while effectively managing multiple priorities.
