We are actively seeking a proactive Electrical Project Engineer to join our team at Berrima Cement Works. Boral’s prized upstream cement business is an important supplier for our downstream businesses and external customers.

The Electrical Engineer is primarily accountable for investigating, designing, evaluating and controlling engineering projects and costs across projects with a scope of work of up to $100 million per annum. Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer, this role will provide effective engineering services across Boral in order to support our goal of becoming a world leader in the building and construction materials industry.

This opportunity is highly suitable for an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong knowledge of electrical standards and compliance requirements, and well-developed interpersonal skills.

Your day will involve:

  • All design related activities for studies and projects, including safety in design, general plant layouts, flow sheets, schematic diagrams, cable schedules, general arrangements and equipment design and implementation.
  • Review, assessment and approval of contractor’s designs for process and instrumentation flow sheets, location of equipment corresponding to process requirements, electrical sizing of equipment, pre-dimensioning of main process equipment
  • Calculation work for equipment sizing for estimation and layout, estimate project costs, industry references and cross check of basic process calculation
  • Project execution under Project Managers including preparation of project documents including contracts and schedule
  • Estimation of project time frame, materials and labour project costs
  • Site supervision of contractors
  • Research and development across equipment, processes and their implementation in projects to the benefit of the business
  • Cross collaboration with Project Managers and Mechanical and Structural departments
  • Supplier liaison including preparation of request for quotation documents, pre-qualification of suppliers and evaluation of technical tenders.
