Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Electrical Manager to lead and oversee all electrical testing, commissioning, and quality assurance activities for our large-scale, Tier III/IV Data Center projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with international standards (TIA-942, Uptime, GB50174). This role requires strong leadership, exceptional client-facing skills, and deep expertise in high-voltage and critical power systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical testing engineers and technicians.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and ensure team adherence to safety and quality standards.

2. Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop comprehensive test and commissioning plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Oversee the execution of all electrical testing activities, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and integrated system testing.
  • Act as the primary technical interface between the company, clients, consultants, and contractors.

3. Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve test scripts, procedures, and commissioning documentation.
  • Ensure all testing complies with project specifications and international standards (TIA-942, Uptime Tier III/IV, GB50174).
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex electrical issues and provide technical guidance to the team.

4. Testing & Commissioning

  • Oversee testing of critical systems including MV/LV switchgear, UPS systems, generators, STS, busways, and protection relays.
  • Manage system integration testing (electrical-mechanical-BMS/EPMS).
  • Conduct performance validation, including load bank testing, protection coordination, and power quality analysis.

5. Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with HSE regulations and company safety policies.
  • Maintain strict quality control and documentation throughout the commissioning lifecycle.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and present detailed test reports, progress updates, and commissioning certificates to stakeholders.
  • Manage the final handover documentation package, ensuring all test records are accurate and complete.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical testing & commissioning, with at least 5 years in a managerial or lead role within data centers, hyperscale facilities, or critical infrastructure.
  • Proven experience with Tier III/IV data center projects and international clients.
  • In-depth knowledge of MV/LV systems, UPS, generators, protection systems, and BMS/EPMS integration.
  • Familiarity with testing equipment (power quality analyzers, relay testers, thermal imagers).
  • Professional certification such as PMP, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) with excellent presentation and reporting skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with consultancy firms such as NV5, Comtech Asia, or CAI
  • Certification in Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) or TIA-942
  • Knowledge of local Malaysian electrical standards and regulations.
