The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Officer in our Welded Products Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

Welded Products manufactures large welded beams and columns from XLERPLATE® steel. Renowned for their size and strength, these products are used in major infrastructure including bridges, high-rise buildings, stadiums, car parks and mining projects.

In this role, you will become a key electrical equipment specialist for the site, supporting the performance and reliability of unique manufacturing assets including automated welding machines, drives, sensors, cranes and a small amount of PLC-controlled equipment.

This is a varied opportunity combining hands-on fault-finding, maintenance planning and coordination, and continuous improvement. You will work across the plant and maintenance systems, giving you the opportunity to broaden your capability and gain exposure across both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities.

What Will You Do?

Working as part of a small and collaborative asset team, you will:

  • provide technical knowledge and a root cause analysis approach to all equipment problems using problem solving processes to maintain asset performance
  • day to day management of plant performance and plan, organise & oversee the safe execution of maintenance activities
  • inspect and understand the condition of all plant and equipment seek ways to improve performance and input to maintenance strategies.
  • support improvements in plant capability, upgrades & product quality systems across the welded products department
  • work closely with the mechanical team and provide coordination support when required

More About You

You are a self-motivated individual who has a high level of initiative and energy. You will have:

  • electrical trade qualifications; or electrical engineering qualifications with practical experience
  • an Electrical licence
  • technical experience on manufacturing or heavy industrial equipment within a maintenance function
  • problem solving and reliability improvement experience
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
