The Opportunity

You will be responsible for maintaining electrical systems and safety-related control systems across the entire site, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and Holcim standards. This position offers hands-on technical exposure to modern automated systems and PLC-controlled equipment, with opportunities to mentor apprentices and support ongoing site improvements. Working on a 4 on 4 off days only rotation.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Undertaking electrical work in accordance with UK legislation and company safe working procedures

  • Performing fault finding on automated plant and electrically driven machinery

  • Maintaining and modifying PLC-controlled equipment to meet production requirements

  • Conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions

  • Supporting process improvements and energy reduction initiatives

  • Maintaining electrical diagrams, circuit schedules and technical documentation

  • Ensuring safety-related control systems for machinery are maintained and compliant

  • Delivering timely completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules

  • Supporting mentoring and development of apprentices

  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational reliability

What You’ll Bring
  • Time-served electrical engineering apprenticeship

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382)

  • Strong understanding of functional safety and machinery safety-related control systems

  • Experience with motor control systems, VFD/DC drives and cable sizing

  • Knowledge of weighing systems (e.g., load cells)

  • Ability to read and maintain technical drawings and control panel designs

  • IT literacy and ability to maintain digital records

  • Flexible approach to working hours

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable qualifications and knowledge may include:

  • Electrical AM2 Practical Assessment

  • Inspection and Testing (City & Guilds 2391)

  • IOSH Managing Safely

  • Working knowledge of PUWER

  • Engineering Technician (TechEng) status

  • IET membership

  • Training in risk assessment, working at height, manual handling and incident investigation
